Box and Quiet

This week James Ward submits two short poems – enjoy

BOX

A box on a shelf;

A box labeled – HOME;

Filled with hopes, dreams and expectations;

Covered with years of dust and cobwebs;

Not to be opened, or to be shared and lived;

A box stored in a long forgotten corner of my mind.

QUIET

In a quiet classroom;

A heating fan is purring;

Blowing a gentle breath on my face;

The breathing of others around me;

The bind of shoe sole on carpet;

Or, the sudden rasp of shoe sole on carpet;

Scratch of pencil on paper;

A feeling of a hard surface under my tablet;

A feeling of my pencil indenting my tablet;

The feeling of the chair I am sitting in;

While I watch others struggle with their thoughts;

Trying to complete the assignment;

As a clock slowly, rhythmically, goes tic in the background.
